Bratislava (dpa) – Co-favorite Norway has taken an important step towards the semifinals at the European Handball Championship. In the top game against defending champion Spain, the Scandinavians prevailed in Bratislava with 27:22 (14:11).
In the final main round game on Tuesday (8:30 p.m.) against Sweden, the Norwegians now have their place in the knockout stages in their own hands. The best thrower of the European Championship third was Sebastian Barthold on the outside with six goals, for the Spaniards Jorge Maqueda was also the most successful with six goals.
In the main round group II, the German team lost their last chance to reach the semi-finals with a defeat against Sweden (21:25). The DHB selection had previously also lost to Spain and Norway.
