North Korea will continue to develop ‘formidable clout’

North Korea will continue to develop “formidable strike capability” and strengthen its strategic forces, leader Kim Jong-un said Monday, according to state media. Kim made his statements while visiting workers who had helped launch an intercontinental ballistic missile on Thursday.

On Friday, the United States appealed to the UN Security Council for tougher international sanctions against North Korea over that deliberate launch. It concerned a Hwasong-15, a missile that experts say is powerful enough to reach the US, for example. North Korea is banned from launching ballistic missiles under UN Security Council resolutions, but continues to develop them and has already tested more than 10 of these missiles this year.
