North Korea has again conducted missile tests. The North Koreans fired two rockets from the east coast towards the sea on Saturday evening, according to the South Korean army. It is unclear what kind of missiles were involved. North Korean state media reported on Sunday that a new weapons system that increases the country’s nuclear strike capability has been tested. It is not certain whether it concerns one and the same test.
The test reported by North Korean media took place under the watchful eye of leader Kim Jong-un. Photos show a grinning Kim surrounded by officers applauding. According to the media, the test is of great importance for the development of tactical nuclear weapons.
North Korea has already conducted more than 10 missile tests this year. The United States has called on the United Nations Security Council to impose tougher sanctions on the country over those launches.
