The government of leader Kim Jong Un now says it is reconsidering measures designed to build confidence. KCNA reports that the country is considering “resuming activities that had been temporarily suspended.” Possibly this is a reference to the testing of nuclear bombs and intercontinental missiles. These projects were shelved when Pyongyang held diplomatic talks with Washington when Donald Trump was president.
The announcement comes after North Korea conducted its fourth missile test of 2022 on Monday. These were short-range missiles that reached 380 kilometers and 42 kilometers high. According to the regime in Pyongyang, the hypersonic missiles hit “their exact target” in the sea.
After this test, the US called for a United Nations Security Council meeting to increase pressure on North Korea for its “destabilizing actions”.
