Floris van de Werken (Warder) and Bart Lambriex (Haarlem) have once again proven that they are in good shape. In addition to being world champions, the North Holland sailors are also the best in the world cup in the 49er class.
The duo convincingly took gold in the 49er class at the Allianz Regatta. The sailors were already certain of the win on Friday by having won seven times after twelve races. A fifth place in the final medal race made no difference.
“We didn’t really focus on the results this week, we never actually do,” Van de Werken told the team afterwards. NOS† “The focus was on communication on board. We are trying to sail as one brain, but with the capacity of two pairs of brains. Four eyes see more than two.”

In the women’s race, the 49erFX class was a lot more nerve-wracking. Odile van Aanholt from Naarden sailed for the first time with her new partner Annette Deutz. They had a small lead after twelve races, of which they won three, Isaura Maenhaut and Anouk Geurts. The duo was the winner by finishing second in the medal race.
Sunday is the last day of the Allianz Ragatta. It is then the turn of the kite and wind foilers. With the men Max Castelein leads, with the women Lilian de Geus from Blaricum. It is the first time that the Regatta will be held in Almere. It was on the program in Medemblik from 1985.
