The hockey players of the Amsterdam Pinoké and Bloemendaal are in the final for the national championship. That is a repeat of last year. Pinoké was too strong for Kampong and Bloemendaal defeated Rotterdam.
In Utrecht, Pinoké also won Kampong’s second game 2-1. On Thursday, the team from Amsterdam were already 3-1 too strong. Bloemendaal was also twice too strong for his opponent. Three days ago Rick Mathijssen’s team won 2-1 against Rotterdam and today it became 4-3 at ‘t Kopje.
“I am very happy that we are in the final. It was not an easy match, because Rotterdam is too good for that. In this format it is completely do-or-die”, said Mathijssen afterwards. Since this season, the games are no longer decided in a best of three series, but in a home and away game.
“I’ve gotten pretty pissed off.”
However, things did not go smoothly at Bloemendaal. After two quarters it was 2-2 and Rotterdam had the better of the game. “I got pretty pissed off at halftime. I really didn’t think we were good in the first half. We played anxiously and that wasn’t Des Bloemendaals.”, Mathijssen saw.

For captain Glenn Schuurman it will be his last matches for Bloemendaal. Schuurman retires from top hockey after fourteen seasons. Of course he hopes to win another prize against Pinoké. “We are in good shape and have put down an excellent series in recent years. I have confidence in it,” said Schuurman.

Next Saturday at 4 PM, the first game is in Amsterdam. Monday 29 May is the return and decisive match in Bloemendaal. That match also starts at 4 p.m.
There is no North Holland final for the women. Amsterdam defeated Den Bosch over two games, but Hurley (Amstelveen) was unable to do that against SCHC. The final is therefore Amsterdam – Stichtse. Those matches are also on Saturday 27 and Monday 29 May.
