NORRØNA’s Responsibility Roadmap 2029

In preparation for NORRØNA’s 100th company anniversary in 2029, the Norwegian outdoor specialist has set itself ten transparent goals with an ambitious Responsibility Roadmap 2029 in order to reduce its own impact on the environment and society.

“We want to be completely transparent about our goals and how we are going to achieve them. By sharing our insights and implementing a strict standard of responsibility, we want to bring benefits to the entire outdoor industry and reduce our impact on the planet,” says Jørgen Jørgensen, CEO of NORRØNA. “We are taking both small steps and big leaps towards our 100th anniversary and we are demanding 100% participation from our employees. We don’t have all the answers, but we have the right attitude and the right people to guide us towards an even more responsible future at Norrøna and across our industry.”

By the year 2029, NORRØNA has committed itself to having implemented all efforts from the roadmap. In order to effectively create a catalyst for changes in environmental and social responsibility, NORRØNA’s Responsibility Roadmap 2029 takes the entire value chain into account and accompanies the company towards being a best-in-class employer and reducing its own environmental impact.

Goals

Zero carbon footprint

With the desired goal of complete carbon neutrality, NORRØNA is committed to measuring greenhouse gas emissions and offsetting its own carbon footprint through CO2 quotas.

100% responsible materials

NORRØNA products are 100% based on recycled, organically grown, remanufactured or animal-based materials, sustainable bioplastics or come from waste by-production.

No trash

Leftover material used in production is 100% reused, recycled or remanufactured using a circular business model.

Proper Land Use & Biodiversity

NORRØNA protects the biological diversity of land and wildlife in order not to contribute to a reduction in forest cover or grassland, soil erosion or disturbance of wildlife during production.

Respect of the five freedoms for animals

NORRØNA respects the five freedoms of animals with all materials used. This is verified by third party partners.

100% transparency

With state-of-the-art science-based measurement systems, NORRØNA offers consumers transparent, traceable and accountable products.

No harmful chemicals

No harmful chemicals are released into the air, soil or water throughout the product supply chain. All materials are chemically certified and chemical consumption is measured.

Exemplary working conditions

1% of sales for Planet & Community

From 100% of sales, 1% goes to projects that improve NORRØNA’s social and environmental impact. This includes efforts to protect nature and wilderness, to give back to local communities and to fund research into sustainable innovation.
