Shovels, tractors and aerial platforms run on Hendrik Reindersweg in Pesse. Men in green T-shirts lug with fences, fill refrigerators with bacardi-cola, connect bastards and shift meters to cable. The organization of Muziekweekend Pesse is preparing for the Normal concert.

The Achterhoekse band has been in existence for 50 years and Pesse is part of an anniversary tour through the Netherlands. The band will perform tomorrow. “A performance by Normaal is Høken in the tent, partying and a lot of noise, I think,” says Jack Reinders, co-organizer.

It was a long -held wish of the organization to normally get back to Pesse. The tours, or ‘campaigns’, went throughout the country for years. Since 2003 the kick -off was in Pesse every year. In 2015, the last concert was: Normally stopped performing due to a relentive health of singer Jolink.

For ten years, Reinders has made attempts to get the Achterhoekers back to Drenthe with his companions. Finally it worked. “In those years we have called very often with the management of the band. Last time we said:” Bennie now has a different pill, it is getting better and better with ‘m. Is it not time that you come and perform again in Pesse? ” They grabbed “, Reinders shines. The tickets in advance were sold out within an hour. “We expect 6,000 people.”

The band has a loyal supporters that come from far and wide. “We are from Assendelft,” says Agnieta van der Meer. She is standing with her husband and friends at the Oosterweide campsite in Pesse. “We don’t want to miss this concert.” Both Fan Agnieta and her friends walk on clogs. “It is best to go on Høken there.” But what is that? “Høken is doing crazy, drinking beer and throwing beer,” explains Dirk de Jonge from Emmen. He is also at the campsite.

With a respectable age of 78 years, singer Bennie Jolink is certainly no longer the youngest. But with medicines, a stool and a cooling beer shower it must work. “Although it will not go as hard as it used to be,” laughs Ab Jongeneel from Krommenie, referring to the big hit from 1977.

Whether the concert of Normaal tomorrow is the last or the start of a new series: organizer Reinders does not want to burn himself. “It stays Fingers Crossed. “
