A living legend of hill jumping Noriaki Kasai51, opened his competitive season last weekend in Sapporo.
The Japanese champion participated in three races of the Continental Cup on the HS137 hill. Kasai was ninth in Saturday’s race, 11th and 21st on Sunday.
In Sunday’s first competition, Kasai beat all German and Polish jumpers. The result shocked Poland.

The Kasai World Cup started 35 years ago. In all, he has competed in 569 World Cup races. No one else has achieved the same.
The Japanese has three Olympic medals, two silver and one bronze. There are two World Championship silver medals, and five bronze medals.
The last World Cup competition victory of Kasai’s career came in Ruka 2014.
