The US trading group Nordstrom Inc. has found a significant reinforcement for its board of directors. On Monday evening, the company announced that former Nike manager Eric Sprunk has joined the board as an independent director. With the new addition, eleven people are now represented on the Board of Directors.
With Sprunk, the retailer has gained an industry expert with many years of management experience in the consumer goods industry. He spent most of his more than 25-year career at the sporting goods company Nike Inc. Sprunk last held the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) there from 2013 to 2020. Before that, he had already managed the shoe division as well as the product and merchandising area at Nike.
Welcoming the new Nordstrom addition, Chairman Brad Tilden said: “We are pleased to welcome an industry veteran of Eric’s caliber to the Nordstrom board,” he said in a statement. “With decades of retail operational experience and track record of growing e-commerce and executing large-scale transformations within a complex global company, we are confident that Eric will be a valuable addition to the Board of Directors and look forward to joining von to benefit from his expertise.”
