Christopher Nordmeyer will train the junior team of the female U19/20 at the German Handball Association (DHB). The association announced this on Thursday (December 29, 2022).
The 55-year-old Nordmeyer follows André Fuhr (photo), who declared in September that he no longer wanted to work for the DHB. Borussia Dortmund had previously released the 51-year-old Fuhr because there were allegations of psychological violence against the coach. These were initially raised by two BVB players, but now significantly more players have turned to an independent contact point against violence in top-class sport and complained about Fuhr’s methods that were known in the industry and also at the association, without anything happening .
The “Fuhr case” has still not been clarified, a lawyer for the coach had stated that the allegations were “essentially incorrect”.
The German Handball Federation had set up a commission to deal with and prevent violence, but dissolved it shortly before Christmas due to internal differences. She is to be reassigned.
With Hannover-Burgdorf in the European Cup
Christopher Nordmeyer was closely associated with TSV Hannover-Burgdorf as a player and coach. In the 2012/13 season he led the Lower Saxony in sixth place in the European Cup. Between 1993 and 2024 he led the women of SV Wacker Osterwald from the Oberliga to the second division.
