Nordic combined Seefeld: live ticker – HS 109, 7.5 km

15:36

Rydzek accelerates

Erik Frenzel has attached himself to Akito Watabe’s ski ends. Johannes Rydzek’s red cap is already appearing in the background. With strong pushes of the stick, the strong runner pushes himself closer and closer.

15:35

Geiger runs up to Lamparter

Johannes Lamparter is still 1:17 minutes behind and leads the chasing field in front of Philipp Orter and Yoshito Watabe. Vincenz Geiger put his foot down on the mountain and was able to catch up. Erik Frenzel takes it easy and is ten seconds behind the group.

15:34

Riiber expands leadership

Jarl Magnus Riiber has already passed the 1.2 kilometer mark. His lead over Terence Weber even increased. Weber and Ilves are 1:06 and 1:07 minutes behind.

15:33

Lamparter, Weber and other German starters follow suit

15:33

Geiger and Frenzel start

It goes very fast! Vincenz Geiger and Erik Frenzel are in the running.

15:32

Weber goes on a Riiber hunt

Terence Weber storms out of the starting box and has Ilves in his luggage. Lamparter and Orter have also started.

15:31

Favorit Riiber opened the race

15:31

Riiber on the route

Jarl Magnus Riiber has started! Now the countdown is on for Weber and Ilves. That’s an infinitely long 57 seconds.

15:30

The countdown is running

The combiners make their way to the starting box. The countdown for Jarl Magnus Riiber is already on. In less than a minute the Norwegian will be on the trail. The 2.5 kilometer lap will be tough, even if only three laps are run. This is what Seefeld is known for.

15:22

Riiber the clear favourite: excitement for the podium

The winner of the race is almost certain before the starting gun is fired. Should Jarl Magnus Riiber not really feel the after-effects of his back injury in the running area either, the Norwegian will lead a lonely race. Terence Weber and Kristjan Ilves will probably be joined sooner or later by Johannes Lamparter, who is 20 seconds behind the duo. Vincenz Geiger and Eric Frenzel will try to reach the ski ends of the Austrian and go in pursuit together. Probably the strongest runners in the field, Ilkka Herola and Johannes Rydzek, also still have a chance to fight for the podium places. This is especially true when Lamparter, Frenzel, Geiger and Co start to tactic. The decision about places two and three will probably only be made in the last lap.

15:16

15 minutes to go

After today’s ski jumping round had to be canceled and the provisional round of evaluation on Thursday was used, things are now getting serious for the combined athletes on the 7.5 kilometers in cross-country skiing. Jarl Magnus Riiber will start at exactly 3:30 p.m. His first pursuers will take to the track 57 seconds later.

14:01

We continue at 3:30 p.m

With that we say goodbye for now. Cross-country skiing will take place as planned at 3:30 p.m.

14:00

Rehrl and Seidel are not in a good position

The Austrians will probably have to rely on Johannes Lamparter and Philipp Orter. Franz Joseph Rehrl and Mario Seidel only finished 20th and 30th and will not fight for the front ranks.

13:59

DSV trio with chances

From a German point of view, the chances of getting on the podium are absolutely there. In addition to Terence Weber, Vincenz Geiger in particular can have hopes. With a jump of 98.5 meters, his deficit is already 1:23 minutes, but the podium is only 26 seconds away. Eric Frenzel came in two places behind Geiger in ninth place. His 97.5 meters earned him a mortgage of 1:26 minutes. Johannes Rydzek can be satisfied, who reached 99.5 meters in poor conditions and a lot of inruns and was 13th, 1:44 behind. The podium could be possible with an ideal race. Manuel Faißt (19th) and Julian Schmid (21st) were not able to get a particularly good starting position and are almost two minutes behind. Fabian Rießle only reached 90 meters and is almost three minutes behind.

13:54

Conclusion PCR: Riiber with a lead of almost a minute

The conditions were already quite turbulent during the provisional competition jump. While some jumpers got around 20 plus points for the strong tailwind, Jarl Magnus Riiber of all people was allowed to jump off the hill when there was an updraft. Thanks to a jump of 107 meters and six gates less, his lead of 57 seconds is gigantic. Second place went to Terence Weber, who sailed 99.5 meters with a light tailwind. The Estonian Kristjan Ilves, who made the longest jump (109 meters) with a significantly longer approach, will start at the same time as him. Johannes Lamparter and Philipp Orter reached 98 and 99 meters and are 1:16 and 1:17 behind respectively. Yoshito Watabe finished sixth.

13:46

Cancellation!

With the cancellation of the round, the jury brought relief to the coaches. Nobody really needs a chaotic and possibly dangerous passage before the Olympic Games. Accordingly, the PCR that was held on Thursday is evaluated.

13:42

Jury meeting in progress

The jury has come together and will now decide how to proceed. A cancellation could happen quickly, especially since the run is scheduled to take place at 3:30 p.m. So there is not much time left.

1:40 p.m

The wind is too strong

13:39

Up to 6 m/s updraft

There is an updraft of up to 6 m/s at the ski jump tower. This is of course a bit borderline, especially since it blows a lot on the slope.

13:37

Forerunner landed safely

A fore jumper has just left the bakken while the next one is already getting ready. So the hope is growing that the jumping can start right away.

13:33

The wind is a problem

The start is delayed a little. The treetops are already moving and the coaches’ flags are waving. We hope that the wind will calm down in the next few minutes.

13:27

Just five minutes

It starts in about five minutes. Of course, we firmly believe that the provisional competition jump will not have to be used and that the 55 participants will be able to descend the normal hill in Seefeld. The wind is blowing quite freshly at the hill, but everything should go smoothly.

13:11

Riiber outstanding in the PCR

Jarl-Magnus Riiber caused quite a stir in the provisional competition on Thursday and won it clearly with 107 meters in front of Terence Weber (99.5 meters) and Kristjan Ilves (109 meters), who, however, caught a good 14 points behind to have. Fourth and fifth place went to the two Austrians Johannes Lamparter and Philipp Orter. Vincenz Geiger and Erik Frenzel finished seventh and ninth.

13:07

ÖSV represented by eleven athletes

The ÖSV is represented at the home World Cup with eleven athletes and consequently also has the most athletes of all teams. Manuel Einklemmer and Thomas Rettenegger will open the competition with numbers one and two. Of course, the focus is clearly on Johannes Lamparter. The man in the yellow jersey will finish the jump with number 55. But Mario Seidel with number 45 is also a candidate for the podium, at least today.

13:00

DSV with seven athletes at the start: Geiger and Frenzel with the best chances

The hopes of the German team are spread over several shoulders. The four-time triple winner Eric Frenzel is also one of the extended favorites, as is Vincenz Geiger. However, Julian Schmid, Terence Weber, Johannes Rydzek, Manuel Faißt and Fabian Rießle will also want to fight for the top places. However, the short distance does not really play into the hands of the fast-paced German athletes. Of course, podium finishes are always possible. The first DSV athlete will be Fabian Rießle with number 37.

12:52

Riiber back in the World Cup: there will be a duel with Lamparter

Dominator Jarl Magnus Riiber returns after his involuntary break due to a back injury. However, the Norwegian was able to prove in the national ski jumping title fights with second place that he is still in outstanding form. In his absence, however, his young Austrian rival Johannes Lamparter has caused quite a stir. One of the exciting questions of the weekend will be whether the youngster can keep up with Riiber or even beat him. Of course, in today’s competition you also have to take into account the other strong jumpers from Austria, such as Mario Seidel and Franz-Josheph Rehrl. The same applies to Estonian Kristjan Ilves and Japanese Akito Watabe.

12:41

Warm welcome!

Hello and welcome to part of the Seefeld Triple. Immediately before the Olympic Winter Games, the first real highlight of the season awaits in the traditional Austrian town, but also the last endurance test before Beijing. The ski jump begins at 1:30 p.m. before the cross-country ski run at 3:30 p.m.
