Nordic Combined: Riiber leads after jumping – Geiger disappointed – Olympia

Julian Schmid also impressed with 133.5 meters and is in ninth place (+1:35 minutes). Geiger is even 2:15 minutes behind.

Rydzek fighting despite a big deficit

The 2018 Olympic champion, Johannes Rydzek, managed 123.5 meters with a short inrun. Rydzek probably has no chance in the fight for the medals. Geiger also fell short of expectations with 122 meters and is 2:18 minutes behind the cross-country ski run.

“The starting position is okay, you can attack from there”said Rydzek anyway.

Tough conditions for the combined athletes

A big factor in jumping was the outside conditions. The wind was strong, affecting the starters. When running, however, temperatures are likely to be a factor. The temperatures should be between minus 15 and minus 20 degrees Celsius.

Frenzel is at the hill

Frenzel, who also came out of quarantine on Monday, was not yet at the start, but supports his teammates on the track. The three-time Olympic champion hopes to compete in the relay on Thursday.

Weber was also released from the corona quarantine. Unlike Frenzel, who was allowed to leave the hotel isolation on Monday, Weber can no longer hope to start at these Winter Olympics.
