11:26
France
No easy task now for Laurent Muhlethaler, who once again caught the wind from behind. So his 115.5 meters are worth more than it first appears. There are also 9.4 points and the grades for posture are solid. So France can initially push 20 seconds ahead of Japan.
11:25
Japan
Cheered on by the Nordic combined, Yuya Yamamoto sets off for his jump. With 107.5 meters he can’t do the top set either, but the weaker jumper of the Japanese was certainly not capable of that either.
11:25
Italy
The large distances are currently not available and even with Iacopo Bortolas, the second man of the Italians, not much is possible with a tailwind. After 110 meters he looks helpless in the run-out, but he can at least put Italy just ahead of the other teams.
11:24
USA
For his part, Stephen Schumann also has a lot to do with the current conditions and the current hatch, which is designed to best suit this group. After 101 meters, the USA will not be able to catch up either.
11:23
Slovenia
Slovenia leads after the first group, but now the team is completely different! Matic Hladnik doesn’t get off the take-off well, looks very tense and after 88 meters it’s over again. While his team was in the front earlier, the hosts are now in last place.
11:22
Czech Republic
Tomáš Portyk cannot bring the Czechs forward. With 104.5 meters, his team is just ahead of the quartet from Ukraine.
11:21
Ukraine
It goes to the second group. This will be opened by Oleksandr Shumbarets, who can bring the 105.5 meters up the slope with a strong tailwind.
11:20
Germany
Johannes Rydzek is now also challenged with a stronger tailwind. How does he get through? He has more to do in the air and lands at 115 meters. Germany is behind, but is anything but behind. Just five seconds are missing from Norway, Austria is nine seconds ahead. So everyone is still close together after group one. Slovenia leads but is not considered a favourite.
11:17
Austria
It applies to Austria. Martin Fritz is sitting on the starting bar and he too has to wait now because the wind conditions are becoming more unsettled. Eventually, the inrun goes up because the wind is still strong from behind. After 120 meters he does his job properly and Austria is second behind Slovenia.
11:12
Norway
After the competition started with a strong upswing, Jørgen Graabak is now feeling the wind from behind and doesn’t make things easy for the Norwegian. Norway begins at 120 meters. It is currently nine seconds behind Slovenia and Japan. The coaches are satisfied, but what matters now is what Austria and Germany deliver.
11:09 a.m
Finland
Arttu Mäkiaho first has to get down from the starting bar again because the wind is outside the defined corridor. When he gets the go-ahead, things are anything but ideal for him with a slight tailwind. In his current form he has little chance and at 113.5 meters it’s over.
11:07
France
Marco Heinis is one of the French’s greatest weaknesses today. How can he bring his team into the competition? However, at 121 yards he falls a little short of what it takes to position himself directly. France is in third place with 101.3 points.
11:06
Japan
Yoshito Watabe is one of the strongest jumpers in the field, but he can’t match what his Slovenian competitor was able to show. Japan finishes second after Watabe’s 123.5 meters.
11:05
Italy
What is there for the weak jumping Italians at the start of the competition? Not exactly what you had imagined. After 117 meters the gap is already there and Italy can only leave one team behind.
11:04
USA
The first starter of the Americans can’t set up his jumping system so nicely and has to land after 120 meters. There are also no top marks for the posture, which means that the US boys are 19 seconds short of Slovenia.
11:03
Slovenia
Matic Garbajs opens for the Slovenians and he does that on his home hill with a really good jump that makes him celebrate exuberantly in the outrun. After 129.5 meters, Slovenia easily takes first place.
11:02
Czech Republic
Jiri Konvalinka from the Czech Republic can add a few meters to that and he can go down to 118.5 meters with a good updraft. His team is initially ten seconds ahead of Ukraine.
11:01
Ukraine
It’s ready for the jump on the large hill. The competition will be opened by Ukraine, where Dmytro Mazurchuk will start. For him it’s 115 meters.
10:57
Look at the trial run
In the rehearsal it was confirmed once again that the medals today will probably be awarded between Norway, Austria and Germany. The Austrians got the most points in the four test jumps with 221 points. Norway ended up third with 212.6 points. Germany had come up with 197.7 points.
10:52
Can anyone get involved?
On paper it seems to be a three-way battle between Norway, Germany and Austria today. Japan in particular is too far away at the moment and Finland and France could also have a hard time catching up. However, if the top teams allow themselves to make mistakes, the circle of medal contenders could increase.
10:48
Don’t underestimate Austria
One shouldn’t underestimate the Austrian team, who are the biggest medal favorites after Norway and Germany. Martin Fritz will start for the ÖSV team. Stefan Rettenegger jumps in second position, followed by Lukas Greiderer. Last jumper is Johannes Lamparter.
10:40 a.m
Germany in wait
The German team is lying in wait, but they are a bit weaker on the hill this year compared to Norway. The team decision will be opened by the large hill Johannes Rydzek, for whom it is the first time at the World Championships. Eric Frenzel jumps in second position. Vinzenz Geiger and Julian Schmid then set the final point from the hill.
10:33
Will Norway triumph again?
So far, Norway has been the most successful nation at this World Championships in Nordic Combined. In the Gundersen on the normal hill, gold went to Norway for both men and women, and the Norwegian team was also able to wear gold at the end of the mixed team premiere. In today’s team decision, the team is also one of the top favorites and could be crowned team world champion for the third time in a row. Norway is at the start today with Jørgen Graabak, Jarl Magnus Riiber, Espen Andersen and Jens Lurås Oftebro.
10:27
Switch to the large hill
The second week of the Nordic World Ski Championships in Planica is beginning and the Nordic Combined skiers have switched from the small facility to the neighboring large hill. The next set of medals will be awarded there today in the team competition. At 11:00 a.m. the jumping round begins.
