DSV quartet without Frenzel
Eric Frenzel can’t make sure that Riiber doesn’t break his record today either. The 34-year-old voluntarily renounces the decision on the large hill. “I’ve achieved my goal by winning a medal in the relay. I know that I’m currently not able to run to the top on the large hill. And that’s what counts at these World Championships,” Frenzel explained. Julian Schmid, Vinzenz Geiger, Johannes Rydzek and Manuel Faißt start for DSV today. Hopes are resting above all on Schmid, who has won a medal in all three decisions so far.

Will everything remain in Norwegian hands?
So far, all gold medals in the Nordic combined have gone to Norway. The Scandinavians were unbeatable in both the men’s and the mixed relay and Jarl Magnus Riiber prevailed in the individual on the normal hill. The longtime dominator of the scene could claim his fourth gold in Planica today and his eighth overall. He would replace Eric Frenzel as record world champion.
