Noordenveld College agrees with Zuidvelde solar park plans

The council of the Noordenveld municipality agrees with the definitive plans for the solar park in Zuidvelde. In May, the Municipal Executive already supported the draft plan. But there were still 41 responses.

These so-called views have led to minor adjustments to the plan. But there were no major changes. The definitive ‘go’ by the municipality leads to positive reactions from the initiators.

Now that the council has approved the final plans, the city council still has to approve the plans. That should happen this month. Initiator Jannes Janssen sees this as a formality. “We don’t expect any problems there, we look forward to it positively.”

The plan is to make a solar park of 74 hectares. It is not yet clear when construction will begin. Only after the approval of the city council, Janssen thinks it will be able to say more about the start of the construction of the field.

In September it became clear that the initiators missed a subsidy round and that the park is experiencing delays as a result.

But that subsidy is no longer necessary to get the finances around the park, says Janssen. “With the current energy prices, we are able to realize the park.” That is not the case with receiving a subsidy.

Today it became clear that construction projects may be delayed due to a decision by the Council of State. Every new project must apply for a nature permit with nitrogen calculation. Recently, the construction sector has been exempted from this, so that they could still build despite the nitrogen crisis.

Today’s ruling is not a cause for concern for Janssen. “That’s not a setback. We already thought it would go this way. We can limit nitrogen emissions during construction very much, because there are a lot of electrical machines that we will be working with,” he says.
