Entrepreneur and 2007 Miss Finland Noora Hautakangas poses naked Helsingin Sanomat In the Soul and Body section of the monthly supplement. Famous people on the forum talk about the relationship with their own body.
Hautakangas says in the Kuukausiliitte that he had previously lost his body, and he had not dreamed of losing it. When she was crowned Miss Finland, the idea of herself changed for a moment. The very next day, however, the feeling was taken away.
– My appearance was criticized really harshly, often the very features I was most insecure about, such as weight and nose, says Hautakangas.
Hautakangas also says that he did not receive as many requests for events as previous winners. It aggravated the feeling which the public criticism had caused.
– I got bulimia. I threw up the bad feeling and thought that in this way I could also change my body to the way I imagined people wanted it to be, says Hautakangas.
Hautakangas says that he gave “200 percent” to every job. The high work ethic was noticed and it brought Hautakanga more work.
– Through the experiences of success, bulimia became easier, says Hautakangas.
Hautakangas also spoke about his harsh criticism Johanna Elomaa in the book he is writing Noora Hautakangas – Despite the impostor syndrome (Bazaar). Italicized passages are excerpts from the book.
After my victory, I was severely beaten. The media announced in the early hours of the next morning how Väärä missi won! Discussion boards were filled with comments about how gross I was. According to the interlocutors, I had cellulite on my thighs, too wide hips, too big a nose and a horse face.
Some people approached Hautakanga anonymously by text message and letter.
A few months after I won, one of the pageant finalists wrote to me that I shouldn’t have won and listed the reasons why I was the wrong miss. Although the letter was not signed with a name, I have a strong suspicion as to who was behind the letter. Someone who had been completely sure of his own victory on the race tour.
