The Council of Ministers has decided to nominate Mr SA (Stef) Blok as a Dutch member of the European Court of Auditors. He was selected through a public application procedure involving the General Administrative Service.
Stef Blok was, among others, Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate (2021), Minister of Foreign Affairs (2018-2021), Minister of Security and Justice (2017) and Minister for Housing and Government Service (2012-2017). He has extensive experience in governance, the European Union and finance.
The European Court of Auditors is an institution of the European Union. The main task of the European Court of Auditors is to audit the Union’s finances. The European Court of Auditors works as a college of 27 members, one from each Member State. The members of the European Court of Auditors are appointed by the Council of the European Union, after consulting the European Parliament, on the proposal of their respective Member States.
