Noel Gallagher slams Guns N’ Roses for headlining Glastonbury

Noel Gallagher as he lives and breathes: The ex-Oasis singer has once again expressed his opinion on colleagues in the music industry. His destination this time: the American hard rockers from Guns N’ Roses.

The songwriter, who has just released the album “Council Skies” with his band High Flying Birds, stinks that Axl Rose and Co. are the headliners on the second evening of the Glastonbury Festival, June 24th.

Gallagher on Headlining Guns n’ Roses: “Are you serious”?

Speaking to British tabloid Daily Star, Gallagher said he thinks the selection of the Los Angeles hard rock band is completely absurd. “I was like, ‘What? Are you serious? This is crazy shit,’” the singer and guitarist describes his first reaction to the announcement. In his view, British musicians should rather close the evenings at the Glastonbury Festival in Somerset. “Given how many British bands have released albums over the past year, Guns N’ Roses are absolutely amazing to be headlining on Saturday,” Gallagher said in his usual direct manner.

It’s not the first time the Britpop legend has fumed at Glastonbury’s headlining selection. In 2008, he opened up about rapper Jay-Z appearing as the final act. The hip-hop mogul then retaliated with a tongue-in-cheek rendition of the Oasis hit “Wonderwall.”

Noel Gallagher himself will not be performing this at the festival. The weather-sensitive musician, who prefers spring as a songwriting time, performed at Glastonbury last year after his original 2020 gig was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. But he will be seen live on other stages around the world.
