There will be 20 signed Les Paul Custom ’78s from Gallagher in collaboration with Gibson.
Noel Gallagher has teamed up with Gibson for charity. Together they are releasing a limited version of the Les Paul Custom ’78. Only 20 of them will go on sale – all signed by the former Oasis singer. The proceeds generated will benefit the organization “Teenage Cancer Trust”.
Inspired by Gallagher’s favorite guitar
The press release states that the special edition’s design (with ebony finish) is inspired by a guitar already used by Gallagher, which the musician once received as a gift from Johnny Marr and played at several concerts and recordings. Noel Gallagher says: “The Les Paul Custom that Johnny gave me in 1994 has always been one of my favorite guitars and it has a lot of history.” And further: “The new editions are great, they feel almost identical. I’m thrilled they’re being sold to support the Teenage Cancer Trust.”
The limited edition will only be available to shop on February 24th at the opening of the new Gibson flagship store in London.
More support for young cancer patients possible through donations
Jane Ashton from Teenage Cancer Trust is delighted with the Gibson-Gallagher campaign: “The money raised will make a huge difference to the lives of young people with cancer. It could provide funding for two outreach nurses for a full year to help us reach more young people in the UK, wherever they live.”
Gallagher’s involvement with Teenage Cancer Trust is not new – since 2000 the organization has held an annual concert at the Royal Albert Hall. The British musician already appeared as an ambassador at the first gig in the series and he will also appear at the event this year.
