Noel Gallagher: Concert evacuated due to bomb threat

The incident happened in the US state of New York. The bands Metric and Garbage were also affected.

A concert by Noel Gallagher and his band High Flying Birds had to be evacuated on Saturday evening (July 8) in Saratoga Springs, New York state. The reason was a bomb threat that the location received. The police then searched the building but could not find any explosive devices.

Fans were surprised when a message suddenly appeared on the screens at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. In it, the concert-goers were asked to leave the venue immediately but in an orderly manner due to a possible dangerous situation. In addition to Gallagher, Garbage and Metric were also affected by the incident. The bands are currently touring the US together.

As the second set was being played, the fans were ordered to leave the building. At this point, the reasons were still unclear. Only later did the local police announce that they had to evacuate the concert hall because of a bomb threat. After a search with sniffer dogs, however, no explosives or the like could be found.

The operators of the Saratogas Performing Arts Center did not comment further on the incident. However, Garbage, who was due to perform after Gallagher, issued a statement via Twitter: “We have no idea what happened tonight. We were also evacuated and were concerned for everyone!!! Sorry we don’t have any real info. All we were told was that there was an emergency.”
