Liam Gallagher tweeted on Wednesday (October 19) that his brother Noel prevented him from playing some tracks from Oasis at the tribute concert commemorating the late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins. Noel owns the rights to some Oasis songs. You can read here which pieces Liam chose instead.
The dispute between the Gallagher brothers
On Wednesday (October 19), a fan asked on Twitter if tracks by Oasis would also be featured on his documentary Liam Gallagher: Knebworth 22, which is due to hit theaters on November 17. To which Liam replied: “No tracks from Oasis as the angry little one blocked the songs. He also blocked the Oasis track that I wanted to play on Taylor Hawkins’ tribute show. He’s an awful little man.”

Later, Liam addressed his brother directly: “You can stop us from using the tracks, but you can’t erase our memories. Shame on you, Noel Gallagher.”
Noel shows no reaction to his brother’s allegations.

The Hawkins Tribute Show
The concert in memory of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, who was found dead in his hotel room in March, took place on September 3rd at Wembley Stadium in London. A show in Los Angeles followed on September 27, but without Liam Gallagher.
In addition to Liam Gallagher, other performers in London included Dave Grohl and his band, Nile Rodgers, Queens of the Stone Age and comedian Dave Chappelle.
Finally, Gallagher opened the event with the tracks “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star” and “Live Forever” (both from 1994). However, it is unclear which titles he originally chose. Here you can find the complete set list and further information about the concert.
Hawkins was “Team Liam”
In a 2019 interview with The Independent, Hawkins spoke about being “Team Liam”: “He’s truly one of rock’s biggest stars. He’s just standing on stage, this bastard, in his parka, staring, with a tambourine that doesn’t even really make a sound. I just love him.”
The resolution of Oasis
The band broke up in 2009 after the Gallagher brothers had an altercation at a Paris festival. Liam allegedly tried to get Noel back on board after the band broke up. However, Noel did not respond to his brother’s inquiries.
Since then, the siblings have also gone their separate ways.

Most recently, Noel Gallagher ruled out an Oasis reunion again: First of all, you probably wouldn’t go on vacation with your ex-wife; secondly, the record sales of his ex-band are just as stable today as they were when they were alive.
