“He’s trying to rewrite history. That everything was fucking great. But it wasn’t.”
After Liam Gallagher just announced his “Definitely Maybe” tour to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Oasis’ debut album, there are once again disagreements between him and Noel Gallagher. He criticizes the intentions behind the tour and claims that his brother wants to “rewrite history” and thus blind people.
Liam Gallagher’s “Definitely Maybe” tour kicks off on June 2, 2024 in Sheffield, England and will include twelve gigs in the UK and Ireland – three shows each in London and his hometown of Manchester. After the tour was announced, Liam Gallagher was asked by followers on social media whether his brother would be on board, to which he replied: “He was asked and he declined.” Now Noel Gallagher has spoken out about the issue to the Daily Star.
Oasis originally split in 2009 amid a dispute, with Noel Gallagher writing at the time: “I am saddened and at the same time very relieved to announce that I have left Oasis this evening. People will write and say whatever they want, but I just couldn’t work with Liam another day.” Now he revealed more about his emotional state at the time: “It was a bloody terrible last year for Oasis. You only have one chance in life. Why should you be unhappy? Be it in your personal or professional life, why? You’re just wasting something valuable.” He further said: “The other guy is trying to rewrite history. That everything was fucking great. But it wasn’t.”
In October 2022, Noel Gallagher spoke out clearly against an Oasis reunion and stated in a “BBC” interview: “Oasis sell as many records a year now as they did when we were still together. In people’s eyes, we are as popular today as we were before. And I’m happy with it.” In January 2023 it already had less of an effect. Opposite “Radio Manchester“ He said: “One should never say ‘never’”. A conversation followed “talkSPORT”, explaining that it would fail because of his brother: “He doesn’t call. I think he should call me because he keeps talking about it. You’d think he’d have some kind of plan by now.” Now it seems as if the Brit has changed his mind again. For the time being, the two will probably not be on stage together as Oasis.
