Hurricane Otis made landfall in Mexico today as a Category 5 hurricane. No weather agency or computer model had predicted this rapid transformation into the strongest category of hurricane. Hurricane Otis’ wind speed increased by as much as 77 mph (128 km/h) in just 12 hours, making it the fastest 12-hour intensification ever observed in the eastern North Pacific. The question now is how could this happen and why no weather model predicted this?
