PSV has completed the transfer of Noa Lang. The 24-year-old attacker comes over from Club Brugge and signs a contract for five seasons with the team from Eindhoven. PSV had already committed American striker Ricardo Pepi for five years a day earlier.
PSV does not want to say anything about the transfer fee, but the club reportedly pays 15 million euros, including bonuses. This makes Lang the most expensive player ever for PSV, which paid 14 million euros for striker Mateja Kezman in 2001. Pepi has cost PSV about 10 million euros.
Lang played 2.5 years at Club Brugge and won two national titles with the Belgian club. In that period, the former Ajax player played 125 matches. Lang was part of the selection of the Dutch national team at the World Cup in Qatar. In the seven international matches he played so far, he scored twice.
“I am hungry for prizes and I want to be very important for the team.”
“Noa is a player who fits our playing style and our philosophy. His creativity, dribbling skills and goal-oriented approach make him a valuable addition to the existing selection. The fact that we can sign him so early in the preparation makes the transfer even better,” says Earnest Stewart, technical director of PSV.
Lang looks forward to his new employer. “It was an exciting few weeks, but I am very happy that everything is now complete,” he says. “I am hungry for prizes and I want to be very important for the team.”
Lang will play with shirt number 7. Xavi Simons, who had that shirt number last season, will now have shirt number 10. That number was released after the departure of Noni Madueke to Chelsea halfway through last season. Whether Simons will continue to play at PSV or whether his previous employer Paris Saint-Germain will bring him back is still unclear.
