No transgressive behavior at SBS 6 show Million Dollar Island

There has been no transgressive behavior behind the scenes of the new SBS 6 show Million Dollar Island. That is what presenter Dennis van der Geest tells in Veronica Superguide.

Million Dollar Island is a program in which a hundred half-naked people sit together on a desert island with a TV crew that is surrounded by luxury and food. Is this a recipe for transgressive behavior? After all, that seems to be the order of the day in the TV world these days. No, says presenter Dennis van der Geest.

No wrongs

Dennis states that everything went well during the recordings. “It seems clear to me that in TV productions everything has to be well organised. There were constantly people on the island who kept a close eye on everything, but I would be sorry if we now have to explain with every program that there has been no abuse.”

What was the atmosphere like during the recordings? “I have experienced the atmosphere as very open and I hope that everyone has felt the freedom to speak out. Because you have to survive, collecting enough food is actually all the participants thought about.”

fights

Were there perhaps escalations between the candidates? “Not in the sense of quarrels or fights. Of course there was rivalry, but I have mainly seen beautiful friendships develop. Precisely because it is such an intense experience, without distraction from telephones or other stimuli, there is a lot of room for real contact.”

“Love sets have also developed between the candidates. I found that very beautiful and sometimes touching to see.”

Million Dollar Island

Million Dollar Island is the latest TV child of John de Mol, which has been acclaimed in Shownieuws for weeks. The first episode scored very poorly last Sunday with only 569 thousand viewers (11% market share).

Tonight is the second episode, at half past nine on SBS 6.
