Andries Jonker will not be the new coach of De Graafschap. That is what the 59-year-old Amsterdammer said today after Telstar’s training against NH Sport.

Last week Jonker confirmed that he had had an ‘exploratory conversation’ with the club from Doetinchem. After the resignation of Reinier Robbemond, they are looking for a new head coach. Jan Vreman will finish the current season as interim coach. The Superboeren are in a disappointing ninth place in the first division and by no means certain of participating in the play-offs for promotion to the premier division.

Jonker did not want to say anything about the decision that he will not work in Doetinchem. “I will not make any further statements. I have agreed that.” According to the trainer, nothing has yet been decided about a possible longer stay at Telstar. Jonker is in his third season in Velsen-Zuid, combining the trainership with the position of technical director. General director Pieter de Waard of Telstar did not want to react in front of the camera.

Tomorrow evening Telstar will play the last home game of the season against Jogn FC Utrecht. You can follow this game live on the radio at NH Sport.
