No trains to and from Zuid station for fifteen days, also fewer trains to Schiphol

Due to construction work, there will be no trains to and from Zuid station from Sunday 13 November to Sunday 27 November. The number of trains to Schiphol will also decrease. Travelers will be traveling longer and trains will be even more crowded.

It concerns work on the train track. According to the NS, most travelers with destination South or Schiphol can travel via Central Station and transfer there to the metro from the GVB to South or to the train to the airport.

“Travellers have to deal with track changes, detours, an extra transfer or replacement transport and also with extra crowds in the trains and at stations, especially at Lelylaan station,” the NS warns. “The advice is therefore to avoid the rush hours and to make use of the (detour) travel advice.”

International train traffic is also different. The IC Brussels runs from or to Rotterdam Central and IC Berlin, Thalys and Eurostar run with changed departure and arrival times to and from Central Station.

Part of the work is part of the ‘Major Maintenance Schiphol’ project, which will run until 2028. “The railway infrastructure of the tunnel will then be ready for the next 40 years,” the NS said. It will also be ensured that more trains can run between Schiphol and Central Station in due course.
