No summer school in Beernem again
Just like 2020 and 2021, there will be no summer school in Beernem in 2022. Alderman of Education Ruben Strobbe (CD&V) acknowledged the usefulness of the summer schools during the city council, but announced that Beernem would not submit an application.
“That is a missed opportunity,” says council member Jef Vansteenhuyse (N-VA), who launched the proposal. “The initiative prevents vulnerable children from starting the new school year in September with a backlog. Ukrainian children staying in Beernem can also benefit from the summer schools.”
In 2020, 138 summer schools were organized in Flanders, by 2021 that number had increased to 190.
