In the late evening, quickly take the boat again to Aldi to buy wine and cheese to enjoy the sunset at the Tiefen See – no longer possible. Because the luxury branch with a jetty has to close earlier!

The market at Berliner Strasse 47-48 has a shortage of staff. “Some of our employees are currently on their well-deserved summer vacation, but unfortunately there have been a few unforeseen illness-related absences in this branch,” the reason given when asked by the BZ. Like other industries, retail is suffering from the consequences of the pandemic.

That’s why the market currently only opens at 9 a.m. and closes at 6.30 p.m. It should remain so until August 6th. Before, Potsdamers could shop here from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

In a job advertisement, Aldi Nord offers up to 20.04 euros an hour for a position as a salesman in Potsdam.

Will that attract more staff to the market, where TV star Günther Jauch, among others, also gives his returnable bottles?
