No S-Bahn to nowhere – S 25 and S 26 are canceled for months

Simply disconnected for three months: the two S-Bahn lines S 25 and S 26 will be canceled from Tuesday to September 2nd between Südkreuz and Teltow Stadt.

Buses run during this time. However, this means that almost the entire south-west of Berlin is cut off from S-Bahn traffic for eleven weeks!

The reason: construction work on the Dresden railway. The residents of Steglitz-Zehlendorf, Stahnsdorf, Kleinmachnow and Teltow are affected.

That causes resentment. Not only that the bus takes 39 minutes for the route, while the S-Bahn only takes 16 minutes. If you have to get off on the way, you really have to familiarize yourself with the complicated descriptions of stops and footpaths.

On Osdorfer Strasse, for example, the bus does not stop at the train station, but 900 meters further away.

Also confusing: The replacement line S 25 runs from Teltow, line S 26 only from Lankwitz to Südkreuz and back.

The S-Bahn is contractually obliged to provide certain transport services. With the replacement buses, she probably does that enough. But the communication of the replacement traffic is clearly in need of improvement. After studying the timetable, some will be happy to be able to switch to the car.

By the way: Buses will replace the S 2 trains between Blankenfelde and Lichtenrade until November 21st – that’s one week before the 1st Advent.
