‘No problem with bus transport in special education,’ says Cabinet Peeters
Yet yesterday there were other stories from concerned parents. They fear that their child will no longer have adapted transport, because the taxis and minibuses used have been scaled back. However, the Peeters cabinet denies this.
Four times longer on the road
A solution has now been found for Louis, the son of Lien Koelman from Bruges. Louis is in need of help and was taken from Bruges to Deinze by taxi last school year. Lien was recently told that the taxi could no longer drive and her son had to go to school by bus, which would take four times longer and would therefore arrive too late at school.
Yesterday she was told that Louis can go to school by taxi again from Friday.
90 minutes
According to Minister Peeters, all students in special education therefore have a solution to get to school on Friday. She insists that the journeys should not last longer than 90 minutes.
If there are still problems, parents are advised to contact the school. Every school has a contact person at De Lijn to find a solution.
