No prison sentence for man (25) who stabbed seven people in asylum seekers center Inland

That Endurance B. ultimately injured seven people with a knife on April 21, 2021 is beyond dispute before the court in Roermond. Some victims had to fight for their lives for weeks and often have not fully recovered from their injuries a year later. The 25-year-old Nigerian, who on his violent journey through the corridors of the asylum seekers center shouted that he wanted to kill everyone, was a vampire and wanted to drink blood, was in a serious psychosis during his act. He cannot therefore be held responsible for his act. The court agrees with the conclusions of the psychiatric report of the Pieter Baan Center.

Eviction

The other facts charged by B., such as resisting arrest and assault three days prior to the stabbing incident, have also been proven, according to the judge. In that period too, the psychosis played such a role that the behavior of the Nigerian asylum seeker cannot be attributed to him. Forced admission to a TBS clinic is therefore imposed as a measure. After the long-term treatment, expulsion will probably follow because B. has no residence status in the Netherlands.

The court further orders B. to pay compensation to most of his victims. In total, this concerns an amount of more than 36,000 euros.
