Luminus wanted to install three wind turbines along the Noorderring. The so-called Peace Mills with a tip height of 230 meters would obstruct the view of the city of Ypres, the minister believes. She thus confirms the vision of the city, which felt that the windmills would disrupt the skyline of Ypres, with the Belfry and St. Martin’s Cathedral, both UNESCO World Heritage sites.
It was already the company’s second application. It withdrew an earlier application after negative advice from the city and the Nature and Forest Agency.
