No note in the bus when not at home: Ouderenbond furious with PostNL | Financial

From the summer, PostNL only wants to inform people who are not at home by e-mail or its own app that an attempt has been made to deliver the package and where it can be picked up. The postal company says that its parcel deliverers are in front of a closed door in 9% of the cases. By then no longer issuing a paper receipt, PostNL would save 70,000 kilos of paper annually.

According to the spokesperson for the parent association ANBO, PostNL leaves a significant part of the Dutch out in the cold. “How can people who aren’t digital and don’t have an email address know if their package has arrived and where it is?” she says. “Saving paper sounds nice, but this measure is very customer-unfriendly.”

After she had read the news item, the spokesperson immediately contacted PostNL, but this did not reassure her. “PostNL does promise that the deliverers will still write a note for some packages, for example with medical packages. But how do you recognize it? If that is an anonymous cardboard box, then the recipient without e-mail or app will have to figure it out themselves. This measure is not customer oriented and very bad service. I assume that PostNL will resolve this before 1 July.”
