That switch to code orange means, among other things, that nightlife can reopen and that there is no longer a closing hour for the catering industry. The mouth mask obligation is also being relaxed. For example, customers in the catering industry will no longer have to wear one.

No more mouth masks at primary school

At the beginning of the week, Flemish Minister of Youth Benjamin Dalle (CD&V) argued for the abolition of the mouth mask requirement at school, a call that was followed in the House on Thursday by his party colleague Franky Demon, but also by Barbara Creemers (Green). Minister Vandenbroucke remained cautious. “I fully agree with the advice of the GEMS experts, who say that we should not abolish mouth masks for children immediately, but should also have a step-by-step plan there to phase it out after the spring break.” In the end, it has been decided that the mouth mask obligation will disappear at the end of next week for children under 12 years old, including at school.

In addition, Flemish Minister of Work and Economy Hilde Crevits (CD&V) asks to move away from the telecommuting obligation of four days a week.
