No more natural gas is leaking from the Nord Stream 2 pipelines, where holes were found earlier this week. A spokesman for the pipeline managers confirmed this on Saturday, international news agencies report. “This can mean two things: either the pipeline is completely empty or the pressure of the gas in the pipe and that of the water outside are back in balance.”
The outflow of natural gas has therefore not been stopped by a repair. Last week, a total of four leaks were found in the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines, which are flooded in the Baltic Sea. They were not in use at the time, but there was natural gas in the pipes. The holes in Nord Stream 1 pipes were not discussed on Saturday.

Three leaks were reported late Monday evening, with a fourth added on Thursday. Swedish and Danish seismologists measured powerful explosions at the sites. Several countries suspect that it is a Russian sabotage action, something that is denied by Moscow.
On Wednesday, the European Commission said it was concerned about the leaks and announced a “robust and united response”.
