No more Lay’s, Quaker or Pepsi: Carrefour removes PepsiCo products from the shelves due to “unacceptable prices” | Domestic

Carrefour will gradually remove PepsiCo products from its shelves. The supermarket chain finds the prices of the producer of Pepsi soft drinks and Lay’s chips “unacceptable”. ‘La Libre Belgique’ writes this and Carrefour confirmed this on Thursday. The decision follows a similar move by Carrefour France.

After discussions with PepsiCo, Carrefour decided that the desired prices were “not acceptable”, Carrefour Belgium said. “Despite numerous attempts to reach a balanced settlement, no agreement has currently been reached between the two parties.”

Doritos

Carrefour therefore decided to remove various brands such as Lay’s, Quaker, Pepsi and Doritos from the shelves. The measure came into effect today/Thursday. The rate at which products disappear depends on the available stock in the stores. The products systematically disappear.

Carrefour Belgium says it still wants to “protect the purchasing power of customers in all circumstances”. According to the company, this commitment may lead to the temporary removal of products from certain suppliers from the shelves.

Furthermore, no date has yet been set for re-engaging with PepsiCo or re-offering the products.

Note

According to the Reuters news agency, a note will be hanging on the shelves in Carrefours in France from Thursday stating that “we no longer offer this brand due to an unacceptable price increase.” The note in question has indeed already appeared in several Carrefour supermarkets in our southern neighbors.
