Stompetoren loses its only café: Grand Café Stompehoeve closes its doors. The owners have filed for bankruptcy, writes media partner Alkmaar Central.
De Stompehoeve was named Alkmaars restaurant of the year this year. According to Dimphy Ewaart and daughter Melissa Visser, the costs are too high. The duo became owners of the café about three years ago.
They soon had to deal with the corona crisis. Subsequently, the provincial road N243, which runs straight through Stompetoren, was partially closed due to large-scale activities.
It is not yet clear what the coming period will look like for Grand Café Stompehoeve. The case is with the lawyer. The restaurant is expected to be declared bankrupt on Friday.
