Marco Borsato currently has virtually no contact with his ex-wife Leontine Ruiters, one of his best friends tells this week in Privé. “She closed the door.”
After a marriage of 22 years, Marco Borsato and Leontine Ruiters separated at the beginning of 2020. The reason was all the revelations about his extramarital love affairs, including with Iris Hond. After the much-discussed crying interview with Linda de Mol, Marco and Leontine reunited last spring.
Hermit Marco
That renewed happiness did not last very long: in December it was revealed that Marco had misbehaved with an underage girl. Leontine disappeared from social media and now we hear very little from the Borsato’s.
According to the weekly magazine Privé, that is not surprising, because Marco would now lead a hermitage in his penthouse in Alkmaar. “Marco goes out as little as possible,” says a confidant and one of his best friends. “He hates being recognized and addressed on the street. He avoids shops as much as possible.”
Street fear
Marco is becoming a very shy man, tells this friend, whose name is kept secret by Privé. “It’s as if he has street fear and that he has become shy of people. In order to remain anonymous, as far as possible with his fame, Marco wears a cap, with which he shields his face as much as possible.”
Why doesn’t Marco choose to stay abroad, just like Ali B? He does play with that thought, says the confidant, but: “Not now. By disappearing now, he fears giving the impression that everything that is being said about him is true and that he somehow wants to avoid punishment.”
Leontine doesn’t want anymore
And Leontine? He is no longer heard from, according to the good friend. “Leontine has definitely closed the door behind her. She doesn’t want to have any more contact with him. That hurts Marco.”
“Marco misses family life. When his children are with him, which fortunately happens regularly, Leontine is missed. Marco often says that he can kick himself, that he has cheated on her. He sincerely regrets that.”
