No medals at European Championships for sprint teams on 4 x 100 meter relay

The Dutch sprinters finished fourth in the 4×100 meter relay at the European Championships in Munich. The men’s quartet, consisting of Elvis Afrifa, Taymir Burnet, Joris van Gool and Raphael Bouju, had to give way to the sprint teams of Great Britain, France and Poland. The gold went to the British in 37.67, silver went to France in 37.94 and the Poles took bronze in 38.15.

The Netherlands scored 38.25 in a race in which the changes apparently went very smoothly. Closing runner Bouju just came up short to keep Poland from the bronze.

A medal was also just out of reach for the Dutch women. N’ketia Seedo, Zoë Sedney, Jamile Samuel and Naomi Sedney ran in the final of the 4×100 meters to fifth place in 43.03. Germany gave the home crowd the seventh gold medal with a winning time of 42.34. The Polish team took silver in 42.61 and Italy won bronze in 42.84. Spain took fourth place with the same time as the Orange Quartet, which lost time due to a poor substitution between Zoë Sedney and Samuel.

Athlete Britt Weerman graced her European Championship debut in Munich with fourth place in the high jump. The 19-year-old talent reached a height of 1.93 meters. The Serbian Angelina Topic also reached the same height, but it needed fewer attempts. Yaroslava Mayuchich from Ukraine won gold with a height of 1.95 meters. Marija Vukovic from Montenegro jumped to the silver with the same height, but in more attempts.
