After his first selection for the national team of Suriname, Delvechio Blackson has not yet received any playing minutes. Tonight (Dutch time), Aron Winter’s team played against Mexico in the CONCAF Nations League. Suriname lost (0-2) and the Telstar defender remained on the bench for ninety minutes.
Suriname had previously lost the away match against Mexico 3-0. Jamaica also turned out to be too strong in two matches (1-1 and 1-3), making relegation from the A-group a fact.
Winter had reserved base places for Ajax goalkeeper Joey Roggeveen, among others, last night. Haarlemmer Jeredy Hilterman (Almere City FC),, Roscello Vlijter (ex-Telstar) and former Ajax players Damil Dankerlui, Sheraldo Becker, Florian Jozefzoon and Diego Biseswar. After the break Danzell Gravenberch and Fabian Sporkslede were added.
At Mexcio, Feyenoord striker Santiago Giménez and Érick Gutiérrez started in the base. Both goals came in the last half hour. Giiménez missed a penalty kick at 0-1. Dankerlui signed for the 0-2 by passing his own keeper.
Because of this international match, Blackson will miss Telstar’s home game against Helmond Sport on Sunday.
