In the 95th minute Wouter Goes headed in the deserved equalizer for Young AZ against Heracles (1-1). And that meant his first goal in professional football for the central defender. “That feeling is amazing.”

Wouter Goes does not score every week. And if he succeeds, it is something he can enjoy for a long time. With a lot of energy and joy, the Amsterdammer stood in front of the camera and gave his analysis. “I saw the ball coming and I thought it’s going in.”

Wouter Goes’ main task is to eliminate strikers and he succeeds quite well. On Friday evening he fought fierce duels with Samuel Armenteros. The Swedish striker of Heracles was regularly irritated by Goes. “I don’t think I’m going to add him on Instagram,” says the Young AZ defender with a smile.

Maarten Martens could understand Armenteros’ frustrations. The Alkmaar coach knows his pupil’s football style all too well. “I think Wouter Goes will become friends with few opponents. He does everything to help his team.”
