No injuries after coastal tram derails in Ostend
No injuries were reported in the incident. The accident occurred shortly after 1 p.m. near the library of Ostend. At Sportstraat, a switch must have shifted, causing the coastal tram to derail.
No passengers on board
The tram in question was on a technical ride, without passengers. No one was injured in the incident.
While waiting for the towing, only one track can be used at that location. This resulted in limited delays on the route between Ostend and Westende. Through road traffic also remained possible. After about two hours, all problems were gone and tram traffic returned to normal.
