Since 2008, the construction of a cycle path from Ansen over the Dwingelerweg towards the municipal border with Westerveld has been on the agenda of the municipality of De Wolden. Priority 1, only the province of Drenthe saw it differently and never came up with money. In 2021, the province finally promised a subsidy for the route, but during a walk-in meeting last May, Ansen residents still preferred an integrated approach to road safety on site. Consideration was given to bicycle lanes in combination with traffic calming measures.
