After Thursday’s race, Tibo Vyvey became unwell and briefly lost consciousness. The young rower was then taken to the hospital, where he had to undergo all kinds of tests. However, it is still unclear what exactly is going on. Vyvey was nevertheless one of the favorites for the gold. The young Belgian rower managed to record the fastest time of all participants in both the heats and the semi-finals. The Bruggeling even won a round in the World Cup in May among the adults. “It is a shame. Tibo was so well on his way to put in a fantastic performance”, said Pim Raaben, chairman of the VRL.
