Janna van Kooten failed to reach the final of the 200 meters free at the World Swimming Championships in Doha. The swimmer from Niekerk finished last in her heat in the semi-finals and swam a time of 2.00.44.
With that time, Van Kooten not only remained far from her personal best for the distance, but she also did not come close to qualifying for the Olympic Games in Paris at this distance. To achieve this, the 19-year-old Niekerkse must swim a time of 1.57.28.
Steenbergen also disappoints
Van Kooten was not the only 200-meter swimmer who disappointed: the Frisian Marrit Steenbergen, who was previously estimated as a finalist, also did not reach the final.
