Badminton star Selena Piek failed to qualify for the European Championship final in the mixed doubles. Together with Robin Tafeling, the Weespse lost to a French couple in Madrid.
The numbers two of the placement list Gicquel/Delrue were too strong with 21-19 and 21-15. Piek, together with Tafeling, was placed fifth in the European championship. In the quarterfinals they had a great victory over Christiansen/Boje (3) from Denmark.
There is no battle for the bronze, so Piek is sure of the bronze. Compatriots Ruben Jille and Ties van der Lecq also took bronze after a defeat in the semi-finals.
