“No desire for revenge” against FC Bayern

According to BVB professional Nico Schlotterbeck, FC Bayern’s surprising exit in the DFB Cup against third division soccer team Saarbrücken will not have a major impact on the Bundesliga summit meeting between the two teams.

“Bayern always want to win and it feels like they come every week with anger in their stomachs, the way they play. I think the result in Saarbrücken belies the quality they have. We definitely don’t underestimate them and will try to keep up,” said the defender in a Sky interview before the duel between the two industry leaders on Saturday (6:30 p.m.) in Dortmund.

The unfortunate season finale last May from BVB’s point of view, when Borussia lost the championship that was within reach to Bayern after a 2-2 draw against Mainz, was only of minor importance.

“I don’t think we have any desire for revenge. We just want to win the game because we have to win every game if you look at the current table,” said Schlotterbeck, referring to fourth-place BVB’s two-point deficit to second-place FC Bavaria.

Borussia’s recent good run increases Schlotterbeck’s anticipation: “It’s the biggest game in Germany that everyone is watching. We’re really excited about it.”
