No debit card, no Formula 1 and no online work: “I don’t enjoy this”

Some of the Amsterdam Ziggo customers have been without television and internet since yesterday afternoon, or only without television. This also creates problems for entrepreneurs.

For example, a plant shop in the Spaarndammerbuurt has to send payment requests to customers because the pin device no longer works. “But if it’s a bit of a busy day, it gets very messy. It’s not nice,” says owner Ermine de Vries. Some customers have run away because they think it’s too much of a hassle.

Some of the televisions have the message that people should check whether their cables are properly secured. “Yes, mine does, but not theirs,” responds someone who wants to watch TV. Ziggo’s live blog showed that it took a little longer before the malfunction would probably be over. “I don’t think this makes me happy.”

“It used to be just natural. But then you didn’t know there was television”

duped malfunction

She doesn’t think it’s nostalgic. “I didn’t have that unrest then. Now I know what I want. It used to be just natural. But then you didn’t know there was television.”

Restaurant PONG had to use a hotspot to allow customers to pay by debit card, because it is not possible to pay with normal money there. “We are completely dependent on this system,” says owner Kaaf Roosenburg. “And that’s pretty frustrating to say the least.”

A VodafoneZiggo spokesperson said earlier today that it was not a regular malfunction, but that six fiber optic cables had been destroyed during work by another company. Repairing these types of cables was, according to him, a ‘time-consuming job’.

Ziggo customers are expected to have television and internet again by the end of the evening. Well, one of the cables now recoveredwhich means that some of the victims no longer have any problems.
